Peristeri BWin Athens (GBL) agreed terms with 33-year old American (has also Liberian passport) point guard Joe Ragland (182cm-80kg-1989, college: Wichita State) for new 2023-24 season. Ragland has played for the last two years at H.Holon in Israeli Winner League. In 32 games he was league's third best scorer with impressive 17.7ppg and averaged 3.4rpg, 8.2apg (top 2) and 1.3spg last season. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. A very impressive season as he was voted Eurobasket.com All-Israeli League Player of the Year, Import Player of the Year and Guard of the Year. Ragland also played 13 games in Basketball Champions League where he had very remarkable stats: 15.8ppg, 3.5rpg, 9.5apg and 1.4spg. Good season as he was named League Player of the Week.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2012.
Ragland is quite experienced player. He has played also professionally in Italy (Milano, Cantu and Avellino), Russia (Lokomotiv), Serbia (Crvena Zvezda), Spain (Murcia) and Turkey (Pinar Karsiyaka and Dacka). His team made it to the Italian Cup Finalist in 2015 and 2016 final.
Ragland graduated from Wichita State in 2012 and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season as a professional player. He played also for North Platte Community College for one year.
On Ragland: A super quick and energic combo guard player. Ragland's a very good outside shooter and scorer, his powerful body enables him to be very effective at the defensive side too. Great upside, even at Euroleage level.
