MASERU-Christ The King (CK) High School (male category) and St. Stephens (female category) were crowned the champions of the 2018 High School Basketball League (HSBL) two days tournament over the weekend. CK claimed the title after beating Masitise High school with 20 points against 18. In the semi-finals, they trounced St Patricks 33-15. As for St. Stephens, they proceeded to finals after their massive 22-12 triumph over St Borniface High School in the same finals. St Stephens later crushed Masitise ladies' team 19-16. Therefore second podium stand was occupied by Masitise in both categories while in third position stand St Patricks in ladies' competition and the National University of Lesotho International School (NULIS). The champions were honoured with trophies and gold medals leaving the silver and bronze medals to the third and fourth place respectfully in both categories. CK coach, Mr Khotso Khakhe gave credit to his team even though their preparations were not up to scratch due financial struggles. Khahle is also happy that they won the tournament with many new players whom it was their first to experience to be exposed to such tournament. Talking to National Basketball League (NBL), coordinator Mookho Ntebe, she believes the tournament gives the schools an opportunity to come together and play at one place. LBA also had high school basketball league but Ntebe said the league is divided into regions and that doesn't give all schools from different districts play one another. She added that they used the tournament for the students to socialize through basketball.
