Africa Nazarene University head coach Michael Oluoch has lauded his players’ resilience after ANU Wolfpacks edged Equity Dumas 69-64 in their opening fixture of the 2026 Kenya National Men's Basketball Premier League at the Africa Nazarene University Grounds. “The game was good. The boys really fought hard despite having a couple of mistakes in terms of scoring and turnovers, which we need to work on. The spirits were high and at the end of the day we are grateful for the win. This is a good motivator and we look forward to a very interesting and competitive season,” said Oluoch after the final buzzer. Making their first appearance of the new campaign, ANU set the tone early. The Wolfpacks controlled the first quarter 20-12 before extending their advantage with a 23-19 second-quarter run to carry a comfortable 43-31 lead into halftime.

Making their first appearance of the new campaign, ANU set the tone early. The Wolfpacks controlled the first quarter 20-12 before extending their advantage with a 23-19 second-quarter run to carry a comfortable 43-31 lead into halftime. Equity Dumas, who were reeling from a heavy 105-67 defeat to defending champions Nairobi City Thunder on Friday, responded strongly in the third quarter. The bankers tightened their defence and outscored ANU 19-5 to cut the deficit to just two points at 50-48 heading into the decisive final period. However, the Wolfpacks regrouped in the fourth quarter, outscoring Dumas 21-14 to secure a hard-fought five-point victory and hand the bankers their second consecutive loss of the season. The win hands ANU Wolfpacks early momentum in the 2026 campaign as they seek to build on a positive start, while Equity Dumas will be eager to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.
