Thunder lands Tylor Ongwae, ex Chemnitz

Tylor Ongwae

The defending champion Thunder in the Premier League signed 33-year-old Kenyan ex-international 201cm forward Tylor Ongwae, who played most recently at NINERS Chemnitz in the German BBL league.
He also represented Kenya at the CBI Championship Finalist nine years ago.
Ongwae is a very experienced player, thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in eight different countries playing on four different continents. He is familiar with European, Australian, African and of course North American leagues. Ongwae has played previously professionally in Denmark (Bakken), Italy (Avellino), New Zealand (Airs), Russia (Parma-Pari), Sweden (Sodertalje and Solna Vikings), Switzerland (Massagno) and Ivory Coast (Abidjan Basket Club). His team won FIBA Europe Cup in 2024.
Among many awards, he was voted Eurobasket.com All-Danish Ligaen Defensive Player of the Year in 2023.
He graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2015 and it's his tenth season in pro basketball. Ongwae played also for Bossier-Parish Community College for one year.
