Equity Bank Hawks tore into Kenyatta University Oryx 121-32 in a Kenya National Basketball League tie at Ulinzi Sports Complex, Langata. This is so far the most lopsided scoreline in the women's category. Vallery Kemunto dropped 37 points, Betty Kananu (175-G/F-1992) 15 and Rita Onyango (1996) 13 for the bankers. "This game had nothing much for me to coach. We just worked on our defence and transition ball," said Hawks Ben Oluoch. KU coach Caleb Osewe blamed the team's loss on turnovers but had some positives as they managed to post high scores. "The girls have steadily improved and I am happy that every time they have an assignment we realize a bit of growth," offered KU tactician Caleb Osewe. "We had too many turnovers which almost put us out of the game but we came back strong and focused to secure those scores." It was the same story at Makande Welfare Hall in Mombasa as women champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) ripped Storms 103-36. Grace Irabu tallied 20 points, Belinda Okoth (190-C-1987) managed 17 points and Rebecca Nkatha (184-PG-1993) added l 14 for the unbeaten Porters.
Other ties saw the Nairobi City Thunder thrash the University of Nairobi 84-37 as Fidel Okoth dropped 16 points. Churchill Odhiambo and Joseph Owino managed 15 points apiece as Ulinzi Warriors overpowered KU Pirates 84-47.
