We must dominate the boards, says insist coach Mufutu

Former national champions Ulinzi Warriors coach Bernard Mufutu insists his team must be more dominant on the boards in their coming games. The soldiers beat Lakeside 83-61 in a Kenya National Basketball League (KNBL) after rebounding 42-37 in the tie played over the weekend. The win pushed the soldiers to 17 points, two behind leaders Kenya Ports Authority (KPA). Both teams have played 10 games. Mufutu said: "We did rebound the ball well but I still believe we can do a better job at dominating the boards." Byron Mabonga, Elisha Odhiambo and Churchill Odhiambo pulled down rebounds against Lakeside. Mufutu added: "We shared the ball well, especially in the crucial third and fourth quarters."
"We are still insisting on playing as a team and consistently throughout a game. It's work in progress as we hope to achieve our goal." He said they should get better as they play together more and more. Leading the Warriors' charge was national team star Erick Mutoro (180-PG-1992), who poured in 31 points as Anthony Bwire added 13. In other matches played over the weekend, Thunder beat Kenyatta University Pirates 72-63 and Equity Bank Dumas thumped Eldonets Platinum 80-43. In the Lower Division, Hope lost 70-60 to National Bank of Kenya 'Phoenix' as ABSA beat Mustangs 68-42.
