The annual Africas Dream Tournament will this year take place in Mombasa on December 9 & 10. The event which is sponsored by former Kenyan international and KCB Lioness point guard Alice Onono, the tournament will feature both boys and girls. This will be the first time Africas Dream is hosting the tournament away from the capital city, Nairobi. Tournament coordinator and former Kenya captain Everlyne Kedogo told Basketball254. The local organizers are targeting over 500 kids from 14 academies in the coastal region. The tournament will feature under 18 and under 14 categories at the Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa. Over the years Africas Dream Youth formerly Positive Teenage Inc. has managed to get scholarship for student athletes. Beneficiaries include Ronnie Gundo - Canisius University, Fred Malaki - Bishop Alemany High School, Augustine Tadale - Pasadena City College, Mercy Odima - Village Christian High School, Zippy Khaosa East Carolina University, Linet Juma - Tyler College, Jackline Mwende - Hesperia Christian High School, Ernest Onjula - Renaissance Academy, Dwayne Ogola - Renaissance Academy and Taudencia Katumbi Oluoch - Abilene Christian University. This is yet another stepping stone to even more brilliant opportunities for youth basketball in Mombasa and Kenya. It's a long time since the region hosted such a big youth tournament and hopefully, everyone will get behind the organizers to make sure everything runs smoothly.
