2025 AfroBasket Qualifiers: Ivory Coast top Egypt to claim third consecutive win

Ivory Coast - Egypt 79-76

Ivory Coast recorded the third win in a row at the 2025 AfroBasket Qualifiers. They nipped Egypt to stay undefeated in Group D. Alexander Poythress (203-C/F-1993, college: Kentucky) came up with 20 points and 9 rebounds to lead the winners.
The teams went neck and neck throughout the first period. The scoreboard read 26-26 after ten minutes. Ivory Coast surged ahead in the second frame. They established a 46-40 halftime advantage. Egypt cut the deficit in the third term. They got as close as 3 points at the final intermission. But Ivory Coast held Egypt to 18 points in the fourth period and got away with a narrow win at the end. Jean-Philippe Dally (200-F/G-1996) delivered 13 points and 9 rebounds for Ivory Coast. Amr Gendy (192-G-1991) topscored with 30 points and 10 assists for Egypt. Patrick Gardner (211-C-1999, college: Marist) finished with 17 points in the loss.
