Poland kept on piling up victories in China. Adam Waczynski (199-SF-89) scored 16 points and issued 6 assists to lead Poland past Ivory Coast for the third win in a row at the tournament. Poland therefore claimed the top position in Group A. Damian Kulig (205-F/C-87, agency: BeoBasket) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the victory.
Ivory Coast got to an energetic start. The African team recorded a 24:20 lead after ten minutes. However Poland held their opponents to just 8 points in the second term to take a 36:32 halftime lead. The Europeans maintained the lead throughout the third term. Poland entered the fourth quarter up by six points 55:49. They dropped 25 points in the final stanza to seal the winning outcome. Mateusz Ponitka (198-SF-93) had 12 points for Poland. Charles Abouo (196-G/F-89, college: BYU) replied with 23 points for Ivory Coast.
