Villeneuve inks Kariata Diaby

Villeneuve D'Ascq ESB Lille Metropole (LFB) agreed terms with 23-year old Ivorian center Kariata Diaby (192-95). She will still stay in France where she played last season at Bretagne Basket. In 25 LFB games in France she was the best scorer with impressive 16.2ppg and averaged 7.0rpg (#3 in the league) and 1.2apg. A very spectacular season in her career as she was named to Eurobasket.com All-French LFB 2nd Team and All-Imports Team.
The previous (17-18) season Diaby played at Charnay (LF2). In 27 games she was third best scorer with remarkable 16.0ppg and had 7.8rpg, 1.5apg and 1.3spg. She helped them to make it to the semifinals. Quite impressive season as she was voted Eurobasket.com All-French LF2 Center of the Year, named to 1st Team and League Player of the Week.
Diaby represented Ivory Coast at the African Championships in Maputo (Mozambique) six years ago. Her stats at that event were 8 games: 4.5ppg, 2.8rpg, 2.8spg.
Diaby has played previously professionally in Ivory Coast (Abidijan Basketball Club).
