Lottomatica Roma lands Perry Petty

Parrish Petty

Virtus Roma (Serie A) tabbed 26-year old Bissau-Guinean point guard Perry Petty (185-86kg-88, college: UTPA). He moved there from Vuelle Basket Pesaro in Italian Serie A where he played last season. In 14 games he averaged 11.4ppg, 3.8rpg, 3.1apg and 1.2spg. Petty also played at Tsmoki-Minsk in Belarusian league earlier that season. In 10 VTB United League games he had 8.2ppg, 3.0rpg, 3.5apg and 1.4spg. The last summer he played at Trotamundos (LPB) in Venezuelan league. In 5 games he had 5.2ppg, 1.8rpg, 3.0apg and 2.4spg. The last (2012/13) season Petty played at CSS Giurgiu (Division A) in Romanian league. In 38 games he was the best scorer with impressive 20.8ppg and recorded 6.4rpg, 4.9apg and 2.1spg (in top 2). He can count that season as a very successful as was selected to Eurobasket.com Romanian League All-Imports Team, 2nd Team and to the All-Star Game. The most of previous (11-12) season he spent at Central Illinois Drive in U.S. semi-pro league IBA-PBL. In 22 games he had very remarkable stats: 17.0ppg, 6.2rpg and 4.7apg (top 5). The other team Petty played that season for was Vahostav-Zilina (Extraliga) in Slovakian league. In 15 games he had high stats: 18.1ppg, 6.9rpg, 5.9apg (top 3) and 2.9spg (leader !!!). A very impressive season as he was selected to Eurobasket.com All-Slovakian League 2nd Team. His team won Belarusian Cup.
Among other achievements Petty received USBasket.com All-PBL Player of the Year award in 2012.
He has played previously professionally in IBA-PBL (Cent.Illinois D.) and D-League (Reno Bighorns).
Petty attended previously one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.
He attended University of Texas-Pan American until 2011 and it will be his third season in pro basketball.
Let's have closer look into Petty's outlook: Perry is a Point Guard that can control the tempo of a game and creates problems with his shooting ability on the offensive end of the floor. He is a very aggressive defender and is able to guard positions from the 1 or 2. Great rebounder for his position and is able to be very effective in the pick and roll set.
