Guinea Bissau and Senegal opened Zone II qualifiers as the campaign will last until August 18th. Senegal reached an easy 74:31 win. Senegal started with 28-7 in the opening quarter and added 19-12 in the second period. The team dominated in the court and looked great in the first half. They limited the opponents to just 4 points in the third period producing 20-4. Guinea Bissau managed to win the last period 8-7 for the final result. Ndiaye top-scored for the winners with 17 points and Faye posted 14. Dieng nailed 10 points and Ndiaye Abdoulaye netted 7. Josimar Cardoso (201-F-87) ended up with 11 points in the losing effort. Tanunde Keita (188-F-90) scored 5, while Medina and Franklim Furtado (198-F-87) added 4 apiece.
In Day 2 Mali outscored Guinea Bissau 77:62 for their second straight win. Mali exploded with 29-7 in the opening quarter, but could not keep the difference. Guinea Bissau bounced back with 21-6 in the second period for 35:28 at the halftime. Mali again pushed the tempo and erupted with 29-13 in the third period, while Guinea Bissau responded with 21-13 in the last quarter. Amara Sy (202-F-81) led the way with 18 points and Diallo netted 17. Mohamed Tangara (208-F/C-84, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement, college: Chaminade) brought 9, while Coulibaly, Kaba and Thaore posted 8 apiece. Tanunde Keita responded with 21 points in the losing effort. Almeida posted 12, while Viera scored 11.
