Guinea-Bissau completed their 2009 Lusophony Games quest. They defeated Macao to claim the fifth overall place at the tournament. Mohamed Camara (196-F-83) scored 17 points to lead Guinea-Bissau to the victory.
The African team set the tone early rushing in front in the opening quarter. They won it by 21 points to stay safe. Guinea-Bissau notched 27 points in the second quarter and arrived at halftime leading by 33 points. The complexion of the game did not change in the second half. Guinea-Bissau rolled confidently and ensured an insurmountable 42-point buffer before the fourth period. Macao fired 20 points in the final stanza but still could not match their opponents effort and had to surrender at the end.
Franklim Furtado (198-F-87) and Josimar Cardoso (201-F-87) had 11 points apiece for Guinea-Bissau. Ba Mustafa and Luis Pinhel contributed 10 points each in the win. Lei Pang responded with 20 points. Lao Fong canned 12 points for Macao in defeat. Guinea-Bissau outrebounded their opponents 49:21 and forced them to 31 turnovers in the loss.
