Radford University College has qualified to the 2019 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship after topping Zone 7 earlier today at the University of Ghana Central Court.

Radford won all three games in the zone to qualify to the knockout phase of Ghana's premier tertiary basketball competition for the first time. The team beat University of Professional Studies (UPSA) 42-31 in the first qualification game.

Radford clinched further wins over Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) via a 31-26 result and a 41-27 result over Islamic University College respectively. The win over Islamic University added more gloss on a brilliant campaign Radford wrapped up even before tipping off against Islamic College.

Due to changes to this year's roster, Radford avoided defending champions University of Ghana (UG) in the preliminary stage and took advantage of it. Last year, Radford missed out on qualification to the next stage after falling to UG.

Radford joins the list of teams set to make their debuts in the quarterfinals. Koforidua Technical University and Catholic University College qualified from Zone 1 and Zone 4 for the first time.

The last round of games at the preliminary stage takes place on Saturday, April 6 with UG featuring.
