Two time winners of Ghana's biggest high school basketball championship-Sprite Ball- T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, is no longer in the running for a place at the next edition of the competition in January next year.

The 2014 and 2015 Champions failed to make the cut for the final round of qualifiers in the Ashanti Region set for Friday, November 9 at the Our Lady of Grace Senior High School with eight teams competing in the Boys Division and Girls Division.

Minnows Tepa Senior High School and Kumasi Wesley Girls High School qualified ahead of T.I. Ahmadiyya following the conclusion of the divisional games this week. The top two sides qualify to the national competition to be held in Ghana's capital, Accra.

Defending national and regional champions Kumasi Girls High School has made it to the final round on Friday as it attempts to defend both titles. Kumasi Girls won its first ever Sprite Ball Championship in January this year with a 30-29 overtime win over Accra Wesley Girls High School.

Former national winners Opoku Ware School headlines the Boys Division which has the likes of big rivals Prempeh College, Kumasi Anglican Senior High School and Adventist Senior High School.

Opoku Ware School and Kumasi Girls Senior High School have successfully defended the Ashanti Regional Basketball titles in the Boys and Girls Divisions respectively as both schools have sealed qualification to the next edition of the Sprite Ball Championship. It was a night of mixed emotions for Ghana Center Amida Brimah on the opening night of Austin Spurs campaign in the 2018-2019 NBA Gatorade League.
