Legon Guerillas who represented University of Ghana (UG) have won the maiden edition of Dalex Finance SWIFT Hoops 3x3 Basketball Tournament at the Aviation Social Center in Ghana's capital, Accra.

The four man team made up of members from UG's All Africa University Games Gold medal winning side beat Royals of Radford University College 11-10 in the final game to clinch the title. Up to the final, Guerillas started strong in all games but had to battle from behind to place first.

Legon relied on shots from the free throw line for a bunch of its points in the close contested game as its long range attempts went off the mark. Point Guard Joel Kwame Opoku ended up winning the Most Valuable Player Award.

Guerillas walked away with 4000 Ghana Cedis, a trophy and items from Dalex Finance while Royals earned 2000 Ghana Cedis and items from Dalex Finance. The competition climaxed a series of games played on the campuses of University of Cape-Coast and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

Only players in Ghanaian Universities and Colleges were eligible to participate and teams representing institutions like University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Central University and Pentecost University College.

SWIFT Product Manager Beauty Oklerkie Larbie expressed her satisfaction with the level of competition at the tournament. Ghana's Female side recently qualified to the FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup.
