Kumasi Girls Senior High School have successfully defended its crown at the Ashanti Regional Qualifiers ahead of the Sprite Ball Championship; the team beat T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School 7-0 in the final to clinch the title.

Kumasi Girls won the regional title last year en route to a second place finish at the celebrated national championship only missing out on the gold medal to Cape-Coast Wesley Girls High School.

However, the Coach Zibo Brown led side made their intentions of going a step higher in the upcoming competition known by taking a 4-0 win in the first half and topped it up with three more points in the second half to win the division.

Islamic Senior High School placed third after beating St.Louis Senior High School 3-2 but will miss the national games due to be held in Ghana's capital, Accra; only the finalists make it to the West African nation's capital.

Despite T.I. Ahmadiyya's male team clinching bronze and booking a spot at Sprite Ball, the ultimate winner in the region is yet to be decided between Opoku Ware and Prempeh College after two games failed to land a winner.

The first game was called off due to poor visibility and the second was rained off. Opoku Ware won last year's regional and national titles; High Schools in the Eastern Region are preparing for their version of the qualifiers.
