Gabon escape the last spot at the AfroBasket U16. They overcame Botswana 45:21 in the last game and finished 7th in Maputo.
Both teams entered the clash winless. Gabon opened the game with a 14-8 lead, but Botswana tied the game at the halftime due to 8-2 rally in the second period. The third period was decisive in the game as Gabon erupted with a 17-0 surge to seal the victory. They added 12-5 run in the last stanza for the final result.
Marel Erika Guitsinzou Akendengue top-scored for the winners with 13 points and Milame Ilarye Angue notched 9. Hardell Flaure Nang Abagha brought 8, whilst Lucretia Elaine Ibondou-Akanga had 6.
