This was for all the marbles, the last chance for Six Stars to sustain there season and move on in the playoffs. The current format was 4 teams, Mongomo, Malabo Kings, San Antonio and Six stars. The 3rd seed Six Stars faced off against the 2nd seed Malabo Kings. The Kings had beat Six Stars 2 teams, they merely needed one more to close the chapter and send Six Stars home. From the opening tip, Malabo Kings got off to a frantic pace, scoring in a variety of ways in the post and on the perimeter. The usuals, Kai King (182-G-85, college: Chaffey CC), and Melo Childs did what they have been accustomed to doing all season. The Kings today much like all season just haven't had any answers for the two imports. Anything they wanted to do they did, perimeter shots, lay ups, getting other teammates involved Kai and Melo were unstoppable. As the game went on further, Six Stars was able to mount a come back and narrow the deficite margin to within striking distance. Six Stars was lead by Kai King with 35 points, 7 assist and 7 rebounds, a season high in all categories. Melo Childs, chipped in 30 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assist as the scoring duo gave the Kings everything they could handle. Unfortunately, despite a valiant effort by Six Stars, they came up short to the eventual champions of tthe season. Despite the efforts of King and Childs, they were unable to move past into the next round of the playoffs. They didn't have enough fire power to overthrow the Equatorial juggernaunts. King in a interview said that it was really disheartening despite how well he and his teammates did. King said that its not about scoring accalades or dominating, its about wins and losses, and unfortunately our season is over because we weren't able to defeat them. King also stated that he wishes he could have done more, maybe get one more rebound, one more assist one more point, that maybe it could have helped them move past the Malabo Kings. Despite the heart breaking loss, King and Melo played tremendously, they were everything as advertised, a pass first point guard and a dominant shooting guard who scores and rebounds. They both made noise unfortunately not enough.
