Al Ittihad advanced to the Quarterfinals with the win over MBC at the African Champions Cup. The team from Egypt celebrated a 65:61 victory to finish group with 4-1 record. MBC meanwhile ended up with 1-4 record on the fifth place.
Mongomo started with 18-11 lead but could not win the game. The team from Egypt replied with 23-14 in the second period and took 34:32 halftime advantage. Moreover Al Ittihad added 20-10 in the third period and enjoyed 12-point lead after three quarters. Mongomo managed to win the last period 19-11 but reduced only to final 4 points.
Mouhanad ElSabagh (180-PG-88) top-scored for the winners with 15 points and Ashraf Rabih (207-C-83) added 12. Haytham Kamal (207-C/F-87) posted 10, whilst Ziad Warda had 6. Christopher McGrew (206-C, college: Salisbury St.) finished the game with 21 points in the losing effort and Miguel Montanana (206-F/C-80) scored 12. Diego Elolo produced 11, while Angel Manana (186-G) notched 8.
