Belal El Shakery commits to Oakland

Oakland University signed 21-year old Egyptian forward Belal El Shakery (6'7''-229lbs) for the upcoming 2026-27 season. The Cairo native moved there from the University of New Hampshire, where he spent his sophomore year. In 25 games last season, he had 11.8ppg, 8.1rpg, 1.7apg, and 1.1spg. He was named to the All-American East Conference Third Team in 2026.
He played at Wofford College between 2023-25. His team won the SoCon Tournament in 2025.
El Shakery graduated from Winchendon High in 2023.
Three years ago, he represented Egypt at the FIBA World Cup U19 in Debrecen (Hungary). His team won Gold, and he averaged 15 points per game.
Among many awards, he was also named to Afrobasket.com All-FIBA U18 African Championship First Team in 2022.
