Ahmed Ismail Named MVP in Zamalek's Semi-Final Victory Over Al Ahly

Ahmed Ismail, player of Zamalek’s basketball team, was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) honor in his side’s clash against Al Ahly in the semi-finals of the 2025–2026 Egypt Men’s Basketball Cup, an award presented by WayUp Sports.

The MVP award was handed to Ismail by Amr Moselhi, President of the Egyptian Basketball Federation, alongside board member Dr. Mostafa Fawzi and Mohamed Afifi, CEO of WayUp Sports.

Zamalek secured qualification to the final after defeating arch-rivals Al Ahly 71–60 at Dr. Hassan Mostafa Hall in 6th of October City.

Zamalek edged the first quarter 15–14, before extending their lead to close the first half ahead 31–29. They then pulled away decisively in the third quarter, finishing it 59–44, and maintained control to seal the victory 71–60.

With the win, Zamalek advance to the final, where they will face Telecom Egypt, who defeated Al-Ittihad Alexandria 75–72 in the other semi-final.

The final is scheduled for Sunday, April 19 at 8:00 PM, preceded by the third-place playoff between Al Ahly and Al-Ittihad Alexandria at 5:00 PM.
