Raneem Elgedawy claims Egyptian Superleague weekly honour

International Power forward Raneem Elgedawy (193-F/C-1997) had a great game in the last round for Al Ahly Cairo and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 14.
The 28-year old power forward had a double-double of 33 points and 11 rebounds, while her team crushed Somouha (#8, 6-8) with 17-point margin 76-59. Al Ahly maintains the 3rd position in Egyptian Superleague. Al Ahly has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 12-1. In the team's last game Elgedawy had a remarkable 68.8% from 2-point range. She turned to be Al Ahly's top player in her first season with the team. Western Kentucky University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Elgedawy is league's best scorer averaging so far 22.4ppg. Elgedawy is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 10.9rpg), assists (5th best: 5.0apg) and averages solid 2.4spg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young center Malak Elhemaly (181-C-2008) of Egyptian Shooting Club Giza. Elhemaly impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 27 points and 16 rebounds. It was enough for Shooting to edge the lower-ranked Misr Insurance (#12, 5-10) by 6 points 67-61. Shooting's 6th position in the standings has not changed. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But a 7-7 record is not bad and everything may still change. Elhemaly is well-known by Shooting fans and she already established her position as one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was international forward Hagar Amer (184-F-1993) of second-ranked Alexandria Sporting Club. Amer scored 24 points and grabbed 19 rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Alexandria, leading her team to a 66-57 win against the lower-ranked Al Gezira (#10, 5-8). Many experts and fans count Alexandria as a contender for championship title. Another victory and another confirmation that they may be right. Just look at their record: 13 victories and only one lost game. Amer has a great season in Egypt. After 10 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.3ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 12.9rpg (2nd best).
