Hagar Amer claims Egyptian Superleague weekly honour

Experienced International Forward Hagar Amer (184-F-1993) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Alexandria Sporting Club and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 32-year old forward had a double-double of 24 points and 16 rebounds, while her team beat Shooting (#7, 4-4) 64-49. Alexandria maintains the 3rd position in Egyptian Superleague. They are still close to the very top. Alexandria would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 7-1 record. In the team's last game Amer had a remarkable 83.3% from 2-point range. She turned to be Alexandria's top player in her first season with the team. Amer has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (3rd best: 20.5ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 12.5rpg) and averages solid 2.3spg and 58.5% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young international guard Alia El Shabrawy (160-G-2001) of Heliopolis Cairo. El Shabrawy impressed basketball fans with 35 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as Heliopolis was edged by the lower-ranked Al Gezira (#12, 2-5) 73-70. Heliopolis managed to keep the same 6th spot in the standings. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But a 4-4 record is not bad and everything may still change. El Shabrawy is well-known by Heliopolis fans and she already established her position as one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 14.0ppg (#9). Her other stats are also decent: 4.8rpg and 3.5apg.

The third best performed player last round was Nour Amr of Wadi Degla Sporting Club Cairo (#10). Amr scored 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Wadi Degla, leading her team to a 71-70 win against the lower-ranked Olympic (#13, 2-5). The chances of Wadi Degla not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 5 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Amr could try to bring Wadi Degla's a little bit higher in the standings. Amr has individually a great season in Egypt. After only 4 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 11.5rpg (6th best).
