Al Ittihad Alexandria (Superleague) signed 33-year old American point guard Will Cherry (185cm-80kg-1991, college: Montana) for upcoming 2024-25 season. Cherry played this summer at Team Diesel (The Basketball Tournament) in the U.S. He managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year. In only one TBT game just recently he recorded very impressive stats: 16 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal. The last season he played at Shahrdari Gorgan in Iranian Superleague where in 26 games he had also remarkable stats: 19.5ppg, 2.9rpg, 3.7apg and 2.2spg (leader !!!). Cherry helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. 2023-24 was a great year as he was named to Asia-Basket.com All-Iranian Superleague Honorable Mention. He also played 15 games in West Asia Super League where he averaged high stats: 17.7ppg, 3.9rpg, 4.3apg and 2.7spg. Cherry contributed to his team making it to the group final. 2023-24 was a great season as he was named to Asiabasket.com All-West Asia Super League Final 8 Second Team.
He is quite experienced player. Cherry has played in eleven different countries on three different continents (Europe, Asia and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in Croatia (Cedevita), Germany (ALBA Berlin, EnBW Ludwigsburg and Skyliners), Greece (Olympiacos), Israel (Hapoel Eilat), Italy (Reggio Emilia), Lithuania (Zalgiris), Turkey (Gaziantep), NBA (Cleveland Cavaliers, GS Warriors and Toronto Raptors), NBA G League (Santa Cruz Warriors and Cleveland Charge), NBA Summer League (Detroit Pistons) and The Basketball Tournament (GCG and Gutter Cats). His team won Big Sky Conference Tournament in 2010, 2012 and 2013. Cherry was voted to All-Big Sky Conf. Defensive Player of the Year back in 2012 and 2013.
He graduated from University of Montana in 2013 and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season as a professional player.
