Tartu lands Omar El-Sheikh

Omar El-Sheikh

Tartu University Maks & Moorits (KML) signed 26-year-old Egyptian international 203cm power forward Omar El-Sheikh (college: Arkansas State) for the upcoming season. He excelled as the top rebounder at Pully in the Swiss SBL league last season, averaging an impressive 15.1ppg, 9.2rpg (#3 in the league), 1.0apg, and 1.6spg in 28 games. El-Sheikh was recognized for his performance with Eurobasket.com All-Swiss SBL Honorable Mention and two League Player of the Week awards.
El-Sheikh has also been a member of the Egyptian international program for some years. He has regularly played for the Egyptian senior team since 2023 and previously for the Under 19 National Team in 2017.
El-Sheikh also represented Egypt at the FIBA Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament in Piraeus (Greece) this year. During this event he scored an average of 5.5 ppg and had 3 rpg.
He played in the final of the MAAC Tournament in 2018.
El-Sheikh graduated from Arkansas State in 2023 and it'll be his second season in pro basketball. He played for other colleges like Assumption College and Fairfield University.
