Haia Al Qana lands Courtney Belger, ex Zakho

Courtney Belger

Haia Al Qana (Superleague) signed 34-year-old American guard Courtney Belger (187cm, Quincy) for the upcoming season. Belger, who previously played for Zakho in the Iraqi Superleague, was the assist leader for his team. In 2023, his team reached the Iraqi League Semifinals.
In the 2021-22 season, he played for Chernomorets in the Bulgarian NBL. In 9 games, he averaged 13.8ppg, 5.0rpg, 5.2apg, and 1.3spg. He had a good season and was voted League Player of the Week.
He's a very experienced player, thanks to pro basketball he's played in five different countries on three continents. He's familiar with European, Australian, and North American leagues, having played professionally in Australia (Suns), Bulgaria, Germany (Schalke, Eagles, Ballers), and New Zealand (Sharks).
Among many awards, he was selected as the Australiabasket.com All-Australian SBL Defensive Player of the Year in 2017.
He graduated from Quincy University in 2012 and it'll be his 12th season in pro basketball. His team made it to the Iraqi League Semifinals in 2023.
