Sporting adds Diop to their roster

Yacine Diop

The Alexandria Sporting Club (Superleague) has added 28-year-old Senegalese international swingman Yacine Diop (178cm-70kg-1995, college: Louisville) to their roster.

Diop was the second-best scorer at Estepona in the Spanish LF Challenge last season, averaging 11.8ppg, 3.5rpg, and 1.5spg in 13 games. She has also played for Charnay in the French league.

She has also been a member of the Senegalese international program for several years. She has played regularly for the Senegalese senior team since 2018 and previously for the U18 National Team in 2012.

Five years ago, she represented Senegal at the FIBA World Cup in Tenerife, Spain. Her statistics for that event were as follows: 4 games played, averaging 9.5 points per game, 4.8 rpg, 1.3 apg, and 1.3 spg. Her field goal percentage (FGP) was 46.4%, she made 60.0% of her three-point attempts (3PT-3), and her free throw percentage (FT) was 75.0%.

Her team won the ACC Regular Season in 2020.


She graduated from the University of Louisville in 2020, and this will be her fourth season as a professional player. She also played for the University of Pittsburgh for four years.
