Qurain (D1) agreed terms with experienced 34-year old American (has also Angolan passport) guard Italee Lucas (172cm-1989, college: UNC) for new 2023-24 season. Lucas is the second import player in the roster as Tunisian Houda Hamrouni signed here earlier.
It is actually her comeback to Qurain as she has played here before. She played last season at Inter-Clube in Angolan D1 league. Lucas helped them to win the League title. A very impressive season as she was voted Afrobasket.com All-Angolan League Finals MVP. She also played for Qurain. The other team she played shortly was Inter-Clube in Angola. Lucas contributed to her team winning the League title. Quite impressive season as she was selected Afrobasket.com All-Angolan League Finals MVP.
In 2011 she was drafted by Tulsa Shock (WNBA) in second round (21st overall).
The former University of North Carolina star is in her 13th (hopefully lucky) season in pro basketball. She has been regularly called to Angolan Senior National Team since 2017.
Lucas is quite experienced player. Lucas' career allowed her to visit four different continents, while she played in five different countries. She tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Africa and of course North America. Lucas has played previously professionally in Hungary (Miskolc), Israel (Hertzliya), Romania (Satu Mare), Spain (Hondarribia-Irun, IDK Eustotren and Girona) and Egypt (Al Ahly and Heliopolis).
