Dominique Johnson (ex Al Riyadi) joins Al Ittihad- March 16, 2023
POSTED BY: Abdul Hamid Addasi
In 2010 he was drafted by Idaho Stampede (D-League) in third round (16th overall). The former Azusa Pacific University (NCAA Div.II) standout is in his 13th (hopefully lucky) season in pro basketball. Johnson has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2012. He is quite experienced player. His career allowed him to visit four different continents, while he played in eleven different countries. Johnson tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in China (Lhasa), France (Entente Orleans 45), Germany (ALBA Berlin), Israel (Maccabi Rishon), Italy (Varese, Pistoia, Venezia, Trento and Udine), Mexico (Fuerza Regia), Poland (WKS Slask and Siarka), Turkey (Bandirma), NBA G League (Sioux Falls Skyforce, Texas Legends and Cleveland Charge), Big3 (Killers 3s) and The Basketball Tournament (Bluff City). Johnson's team won Dubai International Tournament in 2019 and 2023. The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League Honorable Mention back in 2019. Johnson is close to retirement age as a player. It's very possible he may end his playing career at Al Ittihad. On Johnson: Dominique is an athletic 6'5" combo guard with a strong body and great ability to score and defend. He is an outstanding teammate and personality, a smart player who is better suited in Europe as a scorer and a top defender. Dominique is shockingly successful having come from a NAIA school. Even so, Dominique could easily become one of the top players in Europe even at the Euroleague level.
