Al Zamalek signs Tony Wroten

Al Zamalek Cairo (Superleague) signed 28-year old American guard Tony Wroten (198cm-93kg-93, college: Washington). Wroten played last summer at Tri-State (Big3) in the U.S. He helped them to win the regular season and make it to the semifinals. The last season he was tested by Pau Lacq Orthez in French Betclic ELITE ProA. But in four games he had just 0.5ppg, 2.8apg, and 1.0spg.

In 2012 he was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies (NBA) in the first round (25th overall). Wroten attended the University of Washington and it is his tenth season in pro basketball.

He is quite an experienced player. Wroten has played in nine different countries on three different continents (Europe, Latin America, and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in Latvia, Poland (Anwil), Spain (Joventut), Venezuela (Bucaneros), NBA (NY Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers), Croatia (Zadar), Estonia (Kalev/Cramo), NBA G League (Texas Legends, Rio Grande Valley Vipers and Stockton Kings) and The Basketball Tournament (The Money Team).

The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others his team won Polish Supercup in 2020. Wroten was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Latvian-Estonian Basketball League Honorable Mention back in 2019.
