Al Zamalek Cairo (Superleague) agreed to terms with experienced 38-year old American-Nigerian ex-international power forward Ikechukwu Diogu (204cm-116kg-83, college: Arizona State). Diogu is the second import player on the roster as Dominican Rep. Edgar Sosa signed here earlier.

He played last summer at the Astros in Mexican LNBP. He managed to play in three leagues in three countries last year. In 18 LNBP games, he had 10.7ppg and 4.8rpg. He helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. Diogu also played for Bameso in Dominican Rep. TBS where in four games he recorded very impressive stats: 18.3ppg, 8.0rpg, and 1.5apg.

In 2005 he was drafted by Golden State Warriors (NBA) in the first round (9th overall). He attended Arizona State and it is his 17th (!!!) season in pro basketball.

Diogu also represented the USA at the World Cup in China -1997 years ago. His stats at that event were 5 games: 6.4ppg, 5.8rpg, FGP: 42.9%, 3PT: 20.0%, FT: 71.4%.

He is quite an experienced player. Diogu has played in five different countries on three different continents (Asia, Latin America, and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in Iran (Chemidor), Japan (Shimane Susanoo Magic), Puerto Rico (Vaqueros, Leones, and Capitanes), NBA (LA Clippers, NY Knicks, Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings, and Indiana Pacers), and China (Guandong Tigers and Blue Whales). Diogu was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Iranian Superleague Honorable Mention in 2021.
