Al Ahly Cairo (Superleague) re-signed 30-year old American forward Alex Young (198-96kg-89, college: IUPUI). He played there last season. He helped them to make it to both league and Cup finals after they ended regular season as second best team. It was a very successful season in his career as he was awarded Afrobasket.com All-Egyptian Superleague Import Player of the Year and selected to 1st Team.
Young ended the previous (2019) season at Armored Athlete in U.S. semi-pro league The Basketball Tournament. But the most of that year he spent at Beijing Bucks (Chinese NBL) in Chinese league where in 16 games he was league's fifth best scorer with impressive 34.4ppg and recorded 7.5rpg, 3.9apg and 1.7spg in 2019 season.
Young is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in five different countries playing on three different continents. He is familiar with European, Asian and of course North American leagues. Young has played previously professionally in France (Chalons Reims), Israel (Galil Gilboa and Ironi Nahariya), Italy (Cd'Orlando and Basket Barcellona), Russia (Enisey) and The Basketball Tournament (Midwest Dream).
He attended Indiana Univ-Purdue Univ-Indianapolis until 2012 and it will be his ninth season in pro basketball.
Let's have closer look into Young's outlook: Very techincally skilled player, he knows how to move on the court and how to defend. Can score a lot, he's very athletic and has a solid body. Great upside, could become a star at European level.
