Abdel Nader
Egyptian basketball federation had been in contact with the Boston Celtics NBA management to get their preliminary approval to make their Egyptian player Abdel Nader (198-F-93, college: Iowa St.) contribute with Egyptian National team in the second round of world cup qualification.

The Pharaohs were drawn in group C alongside Angola, DR Congo and Morocco, with the top three teams qualify for the second round.

Egypt kicked-off their campaign with a narrow overtime win over DR Congo 65-61, before they suffered their first loss in the qualifiers 64-68 to Angola, In the third game, they bounced back with a crucial 67-63 win over Morocco, to temporarily top the qualifiers group with five points.

The return-leg of the qualifiers will take place between June 29 and July 1, with Egypt facing DR Congo first, then Angola and Morocco respectively.

The top three teams will qualify to the second round, which will consist of two groups of six teams. The top two teams from each group and the best third place will proceed to the 2019 World Cup in China.

Egypt will look for their seventh FIBA Basketball World Cup appearance after they have managed to qualify for the last tournament's version, where they finished in the 24th place.
