Egypt recorded the second win at the 2019 World Cup African Qualifiers. They overcame Morocco for 2-1 record in Group C. Amr El Gendy (192-G-91) scored 14 points to pace the winners.
Morocco posted a 17:16 lead after the opening frame. Egypt turned things around in the second quarter. They held Morocco to just 11 points in the next period to take a 34:28 halftime lead. Egypt maintained the advantage throughout the third term and raced to a 10-point lead at the final break. Morocco cut the distance in the fourth quarter but could not recover and had to surrender at the end. Ibrahim El Gamal (189-SG-88) recorded 13 points in the victory. Adil El Makssoud (193-G/F-85, agency: Promotex) answered with 13 points for Morocco.

AHMAD ISMAIL Defending champion Sporting Al Riyadi Beirut (LBL) re-signed experienced 42-year old former Egyptian international power forward Ahmad Ismail (205-111kg-76). He played there last season. In 26 LBL games he averaged 13.7ppg, 6.9rpg, 4.3apg and 1.4spg. Ismail helped them to win the league title and the Supercup. RAMON GALLOWAY Newly promoted Mantarrayas de La Paz (CIBACOPA) added to their roster 28-year old American shooting guard Ramon Galloway (190-82kg-91, college: La Salle). He moved there from Al Ettehad in Egyptian Superleague where he started the season. Galloway helped them to win the regular season and make it to the semifinals.
