Egypt beat Mozambique in 2017 Afrobasket opener - Sep 8, 2017

The Egypt men national basketball team have defeated Mozambique 75-47 in the opening game of the 2017 Afrobasket on Friday. The Pharaohs were drawn in group D alongside hosts Senegal, Mozambique and South Africa, with the top two teams qualify for the quarterfinals. The first-quarter finished 16-14 to Egypt, before the Egyptians managed to trash their opponents in the second and third quarters 17-8 and 18-10 respectively. They were able to seal the game, winning the fourth-quarter 24-15. Moustafa El-Mekawi was Egypt's best performer after finishing the game with 13 points, eight rebounds and one assist, handing the Pharaohs their first win in the tournament. Egypt's remaining games in the group-stages will be against Senegal on Saturday, September 9, and South Africa on Sunday, September 10. The 2017 men's Afrobasket is being jointly hosted by Tunisia and Senegal from 8 to 16 September.

He played recently with Ahly Tripoli in Libyan D1 league and Won Arab Club Championship with Al Ettehad Alexandria few weeks ago. BAHRAIN suffered a disheartening 64-74 loss last night to defending champions Egypt in the 23rd Arab Men's Basketball Championship in Cairo. The nationals put in a valiant effort as they tried to overcame a tough challenge from their heavily favoured rivals. Egypt hold off Algeria in opener - 13 days ago
HOSTS Egypt defeated Algeria 69-62 last night in the opening game of the 23rd Arab Men's Basketball Championship, being held in Cairo. The Egyptians held a narrow 51-47 lead heading into the final quarter and did well to close the game out and make a winning start. Tournament action continues today with two games on the cards.
