Al Ahly Crowned Allianz Basketball League Champions-May 16, 2026
Al Ahly were crowned champions of the 2025–2026 Allianz Men's Basketball League after defeating Al-Ittihad Alexandria 3–1 in the finals series.

Al Ahly sealed the title with a dramatic 77–76 victory in Game 4 of the championship series.

The Cairo giants had previously won the opening two games 68–66 and 79–72, before Al-Ittihad responded with a 91–80 victory in Game 3. Al Ahly, however, clinched the decisive fourth game to secure the championship.

Al-Ittihad Alexandria finished the first quarter ahead 18–15, before Al Ahly fought back to take a 39–35 halftime lead.

Al-Ittihad regained momentum in the third quarter, moving ahead 65–58, but Al Ahly produced a late comeback to edge the game 77–76 and capture the title.

The finals were played in a best-of-five format, with the first team to secure three victories crowned league champions.

Al Ahly reached the championship series after defeating Telecom Egypt in the semi-finals, while Al-Ittihad Alexandria advanced by overcoming Zamalek.

Al Ahly's resilience in the closing moments of Game 4 completed a successful title run and reaffirmed their status among Egypt's elite basketball clubs.

Anas Mahmoud, 30-year old center from the finalist team Al Ittihad Alexandria, was selected as the Player of the Year at the Superleague. He graduated from Louisville eight years ago. Mahmoud received multiple other awards, was honored as the Defensive Player of the Year, Domestic Player of the Year, Center of the Year, and was named to the First Team and Domestic Players Team. With Mahmoud's excellent performance, the finalist team Al Ittihad Alexandria achieved the best record of the season in the league, finishing with an impressive 13 to 1 in the regular season. His best performance made his team reach the finals but they unfortunately were defeated by Al Ahly Cairo 1 to 3. Mahmoud was the Player of the Week honoree in the league. With finesse and precision, Mahmoud claimed the third position in rebounds per game, delivering a stellar over 9 rebounds per game average. He also averaged 15 points per game in the league. Mahmoud has totalled 7 games of 20 or more points and recorded double-doubles in 9 games on the year. His 28 points against the Zamalek were the most he scored in the 25 26 season. Pierre Jackson, 34-year old American guard from the Al Ittihad Alexandria, earned the Import Player of the Year of Superleague. He Is the Baylor alumni from 2013. Jackson also earned a spot in the First Team. His best performance made his team reach the finals but they unfortunately lost against Al Ahly Cairo 1 to 3. Jackson received Player of the Week award in the league. His court vision propelled him to the second spot in assists per game an outstanding average of 6. Jackson also registered almost 18 points per game that season in the league. He has totalled 9 games of 20 or more points and had double-doubles in 2 games on the year. Jackson's 35 points against the Zamalek were the most he scored in the 25 26 season. 7 out of the top 10 highest scorers in the league are alumni of US colleges. The standout guard Ehab Amin picked up the Guard of the Year of the championship-winning Al Ahly Cairo. He Is ex Oregon from 2019. Amin collected multiple other honors, was voted to the First Team and Domestic Players Team. With Amin's excellent performance, the Al Ahly Cairo achieved the best record of the season in the league, finishing with an impressive 12 to 2 in the regular season. His excellent performance assisted his team in beating Al Ittihad Alexandria 3 to 1 in the final series. Amin recorded almost 14 points and 7 rebounds per game over the season in the league. He has totalled 4 games of 20 or more points and logged double-doubles in 3 games on the year. Amin's 26 points against the Sporting were the most he scored in the 25 26 season. Khaled Abdelgawad, 27-year old power forward from the Al Zamalek Cairo, was named the Forward of the Year at the Superleague. He received multiple other awards, was selected to the First Team and Domestic Players Team. Abdelgawad averaged over 14 points and 7 rebounds per game in the league. He has totalled 2 games of 20 or more points and registered double-doubles in 5 games on the year. Abdelgawad's 33 points against Al Ittihad Alexandria were the most he scored in the 25 26 season. Omar Attia, small forward from the WE Sporting Club Cairo, was chosen to the First Team of Superleague. He was also named to the Domestic Players Team. Zamalek Crowned Egypt Basketball Cup Champions-Apr 19, 2026
Zamalek were crowned champions of the Egypt Men’s Basketball Cup after defeating Telecom Egypt 87–68 in the final held at Dr. Hassan Mostafa Hall in 6th of October City.

Zamalek dominated the game from start to finish, taking control early and maintaining their advantage throughout.

They led the first quarter 25–19, before extending their edge to 42–39 at halftime. In the third quarter, Zamalek widened the gap significantly to 65–53, and comfortably closed out the game in the final period to secure an emphatic 87–68 victory.

Al-Ittihad Alexandria claimed the bronze medal and third place after defeating Al Ahly 84–77 earlier in the day at the same venue.

Zamalek reached the final after overcoming Al Ahly in the semi-finals, while Telecom Egypt advanced at the expense of Al-Ittihad Alexandria.

Al Ahly SC have won the Egyptian Super Cup after defeating Ittihad 89–85 in a thrilling final. Omar Oraby (218-C-1991, college: USC) came up with 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Ehab Amin (193-G-1995, college: Oregon) contributed 20 points for the winners.
The match was closely contested, with both teams exchanging leads throughout the game. Al Ahly showed strong composure and defensive discipline in the closing minutes.
Key plays late in the fourth quarter proved decisive in securing the victory. With this win, Al Ahly added another prestigious trophy to their collection.
Mohamed Taha answered with game-high 34 points for Al Ittihad.
