A few minutes ago in Police United indoor stadium, Alexandria Sporting club has edged past Ittihad in an overtime thriller beating them 91 - 87 to win for their first time ever Egyptian Cup, League Season, & Egyptian Super League in the same year.
Before the end of the official time Ittihad was trailed by 3 points, until Muhannad El-Sabbagh hit a 3 pointer beating the buzzer to send the game to overtime.
The performance of this match was no doubt the best all over the season. Wael Badr was the star of the game, despite turning 35 this year he's still the best point guard in the country. Coach Ahmed Marei dominated the league by his up tempo style game, he made excellent chemistry between veteran stars Ahmed Mounir, Mohamed El-Kerdany, & Wael Badr with his other young talented players.
Ittihad fought hard and developed their offensive game a lot compared to their performance in the regular season games. Missing star player Moamen Abu El-Eineen affected the performance of the team.
Sporting clinch tow cups in one day - Feb 25, 2013
Sporting celebrates the great win over Al Ahli 79-61 in the final of the Egyptian cup with the attendance of MR Ameri Farooq and Minister of State for Sport.
Ahly was able to finish the first period leading by one point; Sporting started the second period controling the game and imposing the team style scoring 36 points to 26 for Ahly.
In the third period, Ahly players tried hardly to reduce the gap but Sporting kept the lead to finish the third period with 58 versus 40 points for Ahly.
In the fourth and final period Coach Ahmed Marei was able to translate a clear control of the match to end it with a big lead , 79 versus 61 to clinch the men's basketball Egyptian cup .
On the other hand, the ladies Sporting crowned earlier the Ladies Egyptian cup wining over Gezira 62- 55 points, This made this day a great day for Alexandria winning tow cups in one day.
