We bring you last week's top performances from Congolese who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is former international guard Emmanuel Mudiay (196-96, currently plays in NBA). He could not help the New York Knicks (13-54) to beat the Sacramento Kings (33-33). Mudiay scored 9 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 24 minutes on the court. But the New York Knicks (13-54) lost 94-102 on the road to the Kings. It was New York Knicks' sixth consecutive loss in a row. Mudiay has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 14.1ppg, 3.1rpg, 3.7apg, 2FGP: 49.9%, 3FGP: 32.3% and FT: 74.6% in 48 games he played so far. Mudiay played for the DR Congolese senior national team two years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Ruphin Kayembe (201-92, currently plays in France). He led ALM Evreux to a victory over the closely-ranked Caen (6-15) 81-68 in the French ProB (second division) in Tuesday night's game. Kayembe was MVP of the game. He scored 17 points. ALM Evreux Basket (9-12) is placed 13th in the ProB. Kayembe has relatively good stats this season: 13.0ppg, 5.1rpg, 1.3apg, 2FGP: 63.0%(34-54) and FT: 56.7%. He has a dual citizenship: DR Congolese and Belgian. Kayembe is in the roster of the DR Congolese senior national team.

   #3. The DR Congolese player who performed third best last week abroad was an international small forward Christian Eyenga (201-89, currently plays in Spain). Eyenga was not able to help Baloncesto Fuenlabrada in their game against Andorra (11-11) in the Spanish Liga Endesa. He recorded 6 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada was edged 89-88 on the opponent's court by the much higher-ranked Andorra (#9). It was Baloncesto Fuenlabrada's third consecutive loss in a row. Eyenga's overall stats this season are: 8.9ppg, 3.3rpg, 1.2apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 43.4%, 3FGP: 32.6% and FT: 73.1%. He is also a member of the DR Congolese senior national team.

Omari Gudul

   #4. Forward Omari Gudul (206-94, college: Angelo St., currently plays in France) contributed to a 2-point ADA Blois' victory against the 14th-ranked Quimper UJAP (7-14) 91-89 in the French ProB (second division) last Tuesday. Gudul scored 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds; not bad, considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. ADA Blois Basket 41 (10-10) is placed ninth in the ProB. It's Gudul's first year with the team. This season Gudul has relatively solid stats: 12.0ppg and 6.1rpg. He is also DR Congolese national team player.

   #5. International forward Jonathan Kasibabu (203-96, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to secure a victory for the Fairfield (6-12) in their game against the Manhattan College (9-9) in the NCAA. He recorded 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 29 minutes. The Fairfield lost 53-57 at home to the Manhattan College. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Kasibabu is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Fairfield's roster. Kasibabu has reliable stats this season: 10.6ppg, 7.4rpg and 1.4apg in 31 games. He plays currently for the DR Congolese national team.

   #6. Swingman Shekinah Munanga (201-97, currently plays in France) couldn't help Etoile Angers (12-4) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Munanga's good performance the third-placed Etoile Angers (12-4) was defeated 90-84 in La Charite by the lower-ranked La Charite (#4) in the Group B. He scored 12 points. The Regular Season already ended. It's Munanga's first season with the team. Munanga's overall stats this year are: 5.1ppg and 3.8rpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior DR Congolese National Team roster.

International guard Mathieu Kamba (196-95, agency: Dynamics Global Management, college: Cent.Arkansas, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Araberri (7-18) in their game against CB Prat (6-19) in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). Kamba recorded 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Araberri was defeated 71-62 on their home court in Vitoria-Gasteiz by the one of league's weakest teams CB Prat (#17). It was Araberri's third consecutive loss in a row. Kamba averaged so far 12.8ppg, 3.6rpg, 1.6apg and 1.9spg. He is also DR Congolese national team player.

Small forward Patrick Mwamba (196-99, currently studies in the States) managed to help University of Texas at Arlington in a victory against the Texas State University at San Marcos (12-6) 81-73 in the NCAA last Saturday. Mwamba scored 5 points in 13 minutes. The University of Texas at Arlington has a solid 12-6 conference record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. This year Mwamba's overall stats are: 2.9ppg and 2.4rpg in 25 games. He used to play for the DR Congolese U18 national team back in 2016.

   #9. International center Gullit Mukendi (203-96, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Azuqueca (11-14) in their game against Azpeitia ISB (14-11) in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division). Mukendi cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 2 points in 13 minutes. Azuqueca (#8) lost 71-78 in Azpeitia to the higher-ranked (#5) Azpeitia ISB in the East group. It was Azuqueca's fifth consecutive loss in a row. This year Mukendi's total stats are: 4.7ppg and 2.6rpg in 24 games. He is also in the roster of the DR Congolese national team.

   #10. Point guard Carl Ona-Embo (185-89, currently plays in Germany) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Baunach (5-23) 80-61 in the German ProA (second division) in Saturday night's game. He scored only 3 points. PS Karlsruhe Lions (14-13) is placed eighth in the ProA. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Ona-Embo has averaged so far 8.3ppg, 2.1rpg and 2.5apg. Worth to mention Ona-Embo played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. He is an international player who is currently on the senior DR Congolese National Team roster.


The list of other players, who all have DR Congolese passport but never been selected to any of DR Congolese national teams:

   #1. Experienced Charles Kahudi (199-SF-86, currently plays in EuroCup) led his French team ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket to a victory over the closely-ranked Andorra (5-1) 79-75 in the Eurocup in Tuesday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Kahudi recorded 21 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 30 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group F. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (5-1) is placed first. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. It's Kahudi's fourth season with the team. This year he averages: 10.0ppg and 4.3rpg in 15 games he played so far. Kahudi has a dual citizenship: DR Congolese and French.

   #2. Eric Katenda (206-F-92, college: N.Texas, currently plays in Iceland) was the main contributor in Njardvik's victory against the league outsider Breidablik (1-20) crushing them 102-70 in the Icelandic Dominos League last Sunday. He was MVP of the game. Katenda recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 10 rebounds; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. UMFN Njardvik (16-5) is placed second in the Dominos League. Katenda's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Katenda has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 15.4ppg, 10.4rpg and 2.4bpg. Katenda is another player who holds two passports: DR Congolese and French.

   #3. Kevin Tumba (206-C/F-91, currently plays in Basketball Champions League). He could not help UCAM Murcia (13-1) to beat Antwerp Giants (6-8). Tumba recorded only 4 points in 21 minutes. The ninth-placed UCAM Murcia (13-1) lost 67-75 on the road to the higher-ranked (#4) Antwerp Giants in the group A of Basketball Champions League. This year Tumba's overall stats are: 3.9ppg and 3.7rpg in 10 games. He has both DR Congolese and Belgian nationalities.

   #4. Cedric Kuakumensah (204-F-93, college: Brown, currently plays in France) contributed to an easy victory against the 13th-ranked Recy Saint-Martin (7-19) 71-55 in the French NM1 (third division) in Saturday night's game. Kuakumensah scored 10 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 22 minutes. BC Souffelweyersheim (24-2) is placed first in Group A. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. The Regular Season already ended. It's Kuakumensah's first season with the team. This year he has relatively solid stats: 10.2ppg, 7.0rpg and 1.9apg in 25 games. Kuakumensah is a naturalized American. Strangely he has never played in DR Congo.

   #5. Nicola Akele (203-F-95, college: Rhode Island, currently plays in Italy) contributed to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked A.Costa IM (11-13) crushing them 99-78 in the Italian Serie A2 (second division) on Sunday night. Akele scored 20 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 35 minutes. Roseto Sharks (12-12) is placed seventh in East group. It's Akele's first season with the team. He has reliable stats this year: 13.7ppg, 7.3rpg, 1.6apg and 1.4spg in 24 games. Akele also holds two passports: DR Congolese and Italian. Despite his DR Congolese nationality, Akele previously played for the Italian U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the DR Congolese team.

   #6. Bismack Biyombo (206-C-92, currently plays in NBA) was not able to help the Charlotte Hornets in their game against the Miami Heat in the NBA. He scored only 4 points. His team were defeated 91-84 in the NBA. Biyombo's overall stats this season are: 4.3ppg and 4.7rpg.

   #7. Cedric Bonga (187-G-85, currently plays in Switzerland) was not able to secure a victory for Boncourt in their game against Lugano Tigers in the Swiss SBL. Bonga scored 8 points and had 3 steals in 19 minutes. His team lost 88-97. This year Bonga's overall stats are: 2.2ppg and 2.0rpg in five games. He has dual citizenship: DR Congolese and Swiss.

   #8. Cedric Belemene-Dzabatou (198-F-96, currently plays in NCAA2) couldn't help the University of Tampa in their game against the Nova Southeastern University in the NCAA2. Belemene-Dzabatou cannot count Wednesday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 3 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 22 minutes. His team lost 82-95 in the NCAA2. This year Belemene-Dzabatou's overall stats are: 8.5ppg, 7.9rpg and 1.1bpg in 28 games.

   #9. Panagiotis Mayindombe (191-G-88, currently plays in United Kingdom) couldn't help Bristol Acadamy Flyers in their game against Scorchers in the British BBL. He cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. Mayindombe scored only 2 points. His team was defeated 89-83. Mayindombe's overall stats this season are: 2.0ppg, 1.7rpg and 1.1apg. He has dual citizenship: DR Congolese and Greek.

   #10. Lotola Otshumbe (195-F-84, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help Dragons Rhoendorf in their game against Koeln Rh.Stars in the German ProB (third division). Otshumbe cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points and had 4 steals. His team was defeated 77-68. Otshumbe's total stats this season are: 1.5ppg and 1.2rpg. He has DR Congolese and German nationalities.
