Biyombo
Democratic Republic of Congo's chances of reaching the next stage of African World Cup qualifiers is in serious doubt ahead of Round 3. The Central African nation ranks bottom of Group C with no wins in three games; Angola leads the standings with maximum points from three appearances. However, Congo's chances have been given a major lift in the aftermath of Orlando Magic Center Bismack Biyombo (206-C-92) joining the team. Round 3 games will take place in Egypt from June 29 to July 1 and the top three teams progress to the final stage where 12 teams will battle for five places in China next year. Bismack Biyombo has played in the NBA for Charlotte Hornets, Toronto Raptors and Magic since getting drafted seventh overall in 2011 and the Congo side will be relying on his experience to power them through. But the 6 foot 10 inch player has played down the huge expectation stating, 'I don't come [to the national team] as a hero or a savior. I just came to give my contribution and add my skills, and help us accomplish something special together'.
