We bring you last week's top performances from Central Africans who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.
#1. This week's number one is former international center
Kevarrius Hayes (206-1997, college:
Florida, currently plays in EuroCup). He led his Turkish team
Bursaspor to an easy victory against the fourth-ranked Andorra (10-6)
85-68 in the Eurocup in Tuesday night's game.
Hayes had a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 16 rebounds in 30 minutes on the court.
Frutti Extra Bursaspor (8-10) is placed 17th in the Eurocup.
It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row.
This year Hayes averages: 8.9ppg, 7.0rpg, 1.2apg, 1.1bpg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 57.0%(73-128) and FT: 69.5% in 21 games he played so far.
He is a naturalized American.
Hayes played for the Central African senior national team year ago.
Strangely he has never played in Central Africa.
#2. Second place goes to an experienced former international small forward
Max Kouguere (198-1987, currently plays in BNXT-League). Kouguere was the major contributor in a
Phoenix Brussels' victory against the closely-ranked Liege (6-4)
72-65 in the BNXT League last Wednesday.
He recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 10 rebounds. Kouguere also added 3 assists.
Phoenix Brussels Basketball (7-3) is placed ninth in the BNXT League.
Kouguere has relatively good stats this season: 12.9ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.8apg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 51.3%, 3FGP: 35.2% and FT: 73.6%.
He has a dual citizenship: Congolese and Central African.
Kouguere played for the Central African national team in 21.
#3. The Central African player who performed third best last week abroad was former international power forward
Jimmy Djimrabaye (203-1992, currently plays in France). He could not help
JA Vichy (16-17) to beat Saint-Quentin (21-12).
Djimrabaye scored 7 points in 16 minutes.
JA Vichy was badly defeated
87-71 on the road by the higher-ranked (#3) Saint-Quentin.
It was JA Vichy's fourth consecutive loss in a row.
His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical.
This year Djimrabaye's overall stats are: 5.6ppg, 3.0rpg, 1.1apg, 2FGP: 40.6%, 3FGP: 39.1% and FT: 73.0% in 33 games.
He played for the Central African national team year ago.
