Romain Sato
Valencia Basket (Liga Endesa) confirmed in their roster experienced 35-year old Central African ex-international swingman Romain Sato (195-81, college: Xavier). He has played there for the last three seasons. In 32 Liga Endesa games he had 4.7ppg and 3.3rpg last season. Sato helped them to make it to the semifinals. He also played 13 games in Eurocup where he recorded 4.7ppg and 2.2rpg.
In 2004 Sato was drafted by San Antonio Spurs (NBA) in second round (52nd overall). The former Xavier University standoutis in his 13th (hopefully lucky) season in pro basketball.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Sato's team was regular season runner-up in Spanish Liga Endesa in 2014. He was also voted All-Spanish Liga Endesa Bosman Player of the Year in 2014.
Sato represented Central Africa at the African Championships in Libya seven years ago. His stats at that event were 7 games: Score-2 (21.6ppg), Reb-5 (8.6rpg), 1.3apg, 1.6spg, FGP: 46.4%, 3PT-2 (51.4%), FT: 80.4%.
Sato is quite experienced player. He has played also professionally in Greece (Panathinaikos), Italy (Mens Sana Siena and Jesi) and Turkey (Fenerbahce).
Sato is close to retirement age as a player. It's very possible he may end his playing career at Valencia.
Sato could be described: He has a 38-inch vertical leap, a 195-pound body packed with wiry muscle, huge hands that catch every ball in his area and that stunningly accurate jumper that works as well from the corners as from either wing.
Outlook (by NBADraft.TK):
Positives: Great rebounder for a shooting guard. Uses his great leaping ability to go up for every board. Has a 38 inch vertical leap. Great athlete. Good speed and agility. A good shooter with legitament 3 point range. A great defensive player who can give even the best offensive players trouble.
Negatives: Gets a little erratic at times with the ball. Shooting can be very inconsistent at times. Needs more experience and polish so he lessens his mistakes. His stats have regressed from last season. This is especially disappointing because he was expected to step up and become Xavier's leader.
True height is not more than 6-4, but has a 6-11 wingspan

Valencia Basket roster for 2016-2017:

Antoine Diot
Guillem Vives
Romain Sato
Fernando San Emeterio
