Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Central Africans who are currently playing abroad.
#1. This week's number one is an international power forward
Johndre Jefferson (207-88, agency:
Inception Sports, college:
S.Carolina, currently plays in France). He could not help
Chorale de Roanne (4-2) in their last game. Despite Jefferson's good performance Chorale de Roanne lost
69-73 on the road to the leading ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket.
He scored 12 points and blocked 3 shots in 26 minutes on the court.
It was Chorale de Roanne's first loss after four consecutive victories.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
It's Jefferson's first year with the team.
This season Jefferson averages: 9.2ppg, 4.2rpg, 2FGP: 53.1% and FT: 85.7% in five games he played so far.
He is a naturalized American.
Jefferson is currently a member of the Central African senior national team. Strangely he has never played in Central Africa.
#2. Second place goes to an international small forward
Max Kouguere (198-87, currently plays in France). Kouguere contributed to a 3-point
SPO Rouen's victory against the 15th-ranked Saint-Quentin (1-2)
80-77 in the French ProB (second division) last Friday.
He scored 7 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
Rouen Metropole Basket (2-1) is placed tenth in the ProB.
But the season just started, so everything may happen.
Kouguere's overall stats this year are: 4.0ppg, 3.0rpg, 3FGP: 25.0% and FT: 75.0%.
He has a dual citizenship: Congolese and Central African.
Kouguere is in the roster of the Central African senior national team.
#3. The Central African player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward
Johan Grebongo (204-94, currently plays in France). He was not able to help
Mulhouse (2-5) in their last game. Despite Grebongo's good performance the 12th-placed Mulhouse (2-5) lost
82-90 at home to the much higher-ranked (#4) Saint Vallier in the Group B.
He was the second best scorer with 14 points in 21 minutes.
It was Mulhouse's third consecutive loss in a row.
But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen.
Grebongo is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Mulhouse's roster.
Grebongo has relatively good stats this season: 14.4ppg, 7.3rpg, 1.1apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 63.0%(29-46), 3FGP: 38.1% and FT: 61.3% in seven games.
He is also a member of the Central African senior national team.
#4. Power forward
Jimmy Djimrabaye (202-92, currently plays in France) managed to help Quimper UJAP to win against the closely-ranked Denain Voltaire (2-1)
76-71 in the French ProB (second division) in Friday night's game.
Djimrabaye scored 5 points.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Quimper UJAP (2-1) is placed second in the ProB.
But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go.
Djimrabaye's overall stats this season are: 7.3ppg and 5.7rpg.
He is also Central African national team player.
