2013 AfroBasket: Cape Verde finish 9th with win over Kenya

Cape Verde capped their AfroBasket campaign on a high note. They knocked down Kenya to occupy the 9th overall position. Ornela Livramento (178-G-90) stepped up with 20 points for the winners.
Cape Verde secured a comfortable 26:7 lead after the starting quarter. Kenya slowed their opponents down in the second quarter. They got within 14 points at the interval 34:20. But Cape Verde were back in control in the third term. They triggered a 17:7 run to secure a 24-point buffer before the fourth frame. Kenya outscored Cape Verde in the final stanza but could not avoid the defeat. Vandell Andrade (181-F-93) nailed 12 points, while Aurea Cardoso (90) had 11 points for the winners. Angela Okoth (F-85) replied with 12 points for Kenya. Hilda Indasi (85) chipped in 8 points in the loss.
