Nigeria close Tuesday action with the win over Cape Verde. The Nigerian side posted a 60:55 win for 2-2 record in Group B. Cape Verde meanwhile remained winless and fell at 0-4 record.
Nigeria grabbed 12-9 lead in the first period and added 21-14 run in the second frame. Cape Verde however dominated the third period and erupted with a 19-7 surge. Nigeria meanwhile closed the game with a 20-13 run to seal the victory.
Atosu Upe (G-93) stepped up with 11 points and Sarah Ogoke (175-G-90, college: So.Poly State) nailed 10. Ndidi Madu (185-PF-89, college: Florida) produced 8, whilst Magdalene Ukato (F/G-86) and Justina Udenze (189-C-89, college: Cent.Conn.St.) nailed 7 each. Vandell Andrade (181-F-93) answered with 18 points in defeat and Jade Leitao (180-F/C-83, college: Fordham) brought 11. Djenifer Monteiro (192-C-91) netted 9 and Lorreta Rocha (178-G-92) scored 6.
