Promoted by international basketball player Crispina Correia (193-F/C-75, college: Auburn), the forum and tournament was the initiative
of the Sal-based team, Pantera Negra, and will count on with participation with athletes
from Sal, and Santiago Islands.
The tournament counted with the following teams, Seven Stars (Santiago South), a selection
team from Sal island, and a selection team from Santiago North.
The first game in the inter-island tournament saw the selection team from SAl defeat the
selecion team from Santiago North, 105 to 17. Clearly demonstrating the difference in the
quality of play between the two teams.
On Saturday, Santiago North played against Seven Stars, and suffered their seccond loss of
the tournament, 123 - 27.
On the last day of the tournament, Sunday, the top two teams showcase great womens basketball,
however Seven Stars go the best of the selection team from Sal, and defeated them 56 to 44.
Seven Stars was the winner of the tournament.
Final Classification were as following:
1. Seven Stars
2. Selection Team from Sal Island
3. Selection Team from Santiago North Island
Santiago Norte came away with the Fair Play trophy, and Lorreta Rocha (Sal Selection team) won
the MVP trophy.
Afte the game on Saturday s a forum was held Action strategies for the development
of womens basketball, which feature the participation of Pedro Miranda, Vital Santos,
Gilson Lima and Crispina Correia (Tininha).
