We bring you last week's top performances from Cameroonians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.
#1. This week's number one is an international forward
Kenny Kadji (211-88, agency:
Octagon Europe, college:
Miami, FL, currently plays in Turkey). He could not help
Bursaspor (5-13) in their last game. Despite Kadji's very good performance Bursaspor was edged
108-107 at home by the higher-ranked (#3) Turk Telekom.
He was the top scorer with 34 points. Kadji also added 4 assists in 30 minutes on the court.
It was Bursaspor's fifth consecutive loss in a row.
Kadji has relatively good stats this year: 12.9ppg, 4.4rpg, 2.1apg, 2FGP: 57.9%(22-38), 3FGP: 47.4%(9-19) and FT: 73.1% in seven games he played so far.
He is currently a member of the Cameroonian senior national team.
#2. Second place goes to an international forward
Japhet Kadji (201-95, college:
NC A&T, currently plays in Spain). He was not able to help
Tarragona ADT (0-1) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Kadji's very good performance the seventh-placed Tarragona ADT (0-1) was defeated
87-79 on the road by the leading Artes in the Group C1.
He was the top scorer with 15 points. It was his first game for Tarragona ADT this season.
It's Kadji's first year with the team.
Kadji is in the roster of the Cameroonian senior national team.
#3. The Cameroonian player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international shooting guard
D.J. Strawberry (196-85, college:
Maryland, currently plays in Spain). He was not able to secure a victory for
UCAM Murcia (4-4) in their game against Gran Canaria (2-8) in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Strawberry did not have that impressive stats last Saturday.
He recorded only 3 points in 16 minutes.
UCAM Murcia lost
74-78 on their home court in Murcia to the lower-ranked (#13) Gran Canaria.
It's Strawberry's first season with the team.
This year Strawberry averages: 5.1ppg, 1.6rpg, 1.9apg, 2FGP: 30.4%, 3FGP: 18.8% in seven games.
He has a dual citizenship: Cameroonian and American.
Strawberry played for the Cameroonian national team two years ago.
#4. Forward
Arnaud-William Adala Moto (198-93, agency:
Duran International, college:
Towson, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help
Castello (3-1) in their game against HLA Alicante (4-0) in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). Adala Moto cannot count Friday's game as one of the best ones.
He recorded only 3 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 14 minutes.
Castello (#2) was crushed
85-62 on their home court in Castellon by the leading HLA Alicante in the Group B.
They ended the series of three consecutive victories.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
This year Adala Moto has relatively solid stats: 12.5ppg, 7.3rpg and 1.8spg in four games.
He is also Cameroonian national team player.
#5. Former international forward
Brylle Kamen (201-88, agency:
Promotex, college:
SJSU, currently plays in Portugal) contributed to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked Chamusca (1-2) crushing them
89-69 in the Portuguese Proliga (second division) in Saturday night's game.
Kamen recorded 9 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
CF Belenenses Lisboa (3-0) is placed first in South group.
So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
Kamen's overall stats this season are: 6.0ppg, 10.3rpg and 2.0apg.
He is another player who holds two passports: French and Cameroonian.
Kamen used to play for the Cameroonian national team
three years ago.
The list of other players, who all have Cameroonian passport but never been selected to any of Cameroonian national teams: #1. Paul Biligha (200-C-90, agency:
Players Group, currently plays in Italy) managed to help AX Armani Exchange Milano to win against the second-ranked Brescia (3-3) crushing them
87-56 in the Italian Serie A last Sunday.
Biligha recorded 5 points and blocked 2 blocks.
It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in Group A. AX Armani Exchange Milanois placed .
This season Biligha averages: 3.0ppg and 1.5rpg.
He has a dual citizenship: Cameroonian and Italian.
#2. Roland Nyama (198-SF-93, agency:
Scorers 1st Sportmanagement, college:
Stony Brook, currently plays in Germany) could not help
Walter Tigers (1-2) in their last game. Despite Nyama's very good performance Walter Tigers was badly defeated
97-80 on the road by the lower-ranked (#7) Kirchheim Knights.
He was the top scorer with 24 points in 27 minutes.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
Nyama has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 16.0ppg, 2.0rpg and 1.3spg in three games he played so far.
Nyama is another player who holds two passports: Cameroonian and German.
Despite his Cameroonian nationality, Nyama previously played for the German U16 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Cameroonian team.
#3. Bertrand Awana (206-C-97, college:
Lenoir-Rhyne, currently plays in Denmark) was not able to help
Wolfpack in their game against Bakken (5-1) in the Danish BasketLigaen.
He recorded 7 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Wolfpack was crushed
109-57 in Aarhus by the second-ranked Bakken in the Pro B group.
But the season just started, so everything may happen.
Awana's overall stats this year are: 7.5ppg, 8.7rpg and 1.2bpg.
#4. Nelson Yengue (195-SG-92, college:
Laurentian, currently plays in Spain) led
Tormes to a victory against the eighth-ranked Cantbasket (1-2)
69-59 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) in Saturday night's game.
He had a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 11 rebounds in 33 minutes.
CB Tormes La Antigua (3-0) is placed first in Group A-B.
So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season.
This year Yengue's overall stats are: 10.0ppg and 6.5rpg in two games.
#5. Johan Bitjaa Kody (207-C-93, agency:
Interperformances, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for
Burgos (5-3) in their game against Melilla (1-3) in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division).
He recorded 7 points. It was his first game for Burgos this season.
Burgos (#7) was defeated
93-88 on the opponent's court by the higher-ranked Melilla (#6) in the Group A.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
