Condor Yaounde champion of the first round - Apr 22, 2011

The Palais des sports of Yaound hosted on Saturday 19 March, the matches of the 7th and last day of basketball championship. The main encounter was the one of the teams of Yaound, the leader Condor and Beac. As expected the match was very close. Beac beat Condor 73 to 63. Despite this score, Condor remains leader, vice champion of Africa, awarded champion of the first leg with 11 points. Injs Yaound, exempt because of the withdrawal of Far Compet was vice champion with 10 points. Phoenix Douala with the same point but a different goal average brought up the rear.

Far Compet Yaound has been withdrawn by the homologation and disciplinary committee of the Federation of Cameroonian basketball (Fecabasket). This decision results from the absence of the team to the 3rd and 4th day matches of first division national championship last 26 and 27 February. In a memorandum to the Fecabasket, the president of this team, as spokesman had indicated he would boycott the meeting of the economic capital if the conditions for organizing this competition were not improved. Insurance policy, subsidies for transportation and accommodation during the club travel for the championship are among their claims. Finally, Far Compet was the only team out of the 8 involved to miss this meeting. The homologation and disciplinary committee of the Federation of Cameroonian basketball had therefore withdrawn the team, meaning expulsion from the competition. There are then seven teams to attend the rest of the competition which second leg will be held next month

First leg ranking :

1st Condor 11 points, 2nd Injs and Phoenix Douala 10 points, 4th Montagne de lOuest and Beac 9 points chacun ; 6th Phoenix Ebolowa 8 points and 7th Volcanic 6 points.
