It becomes a habit to see the two teams in final game at Ziniare. It's a same opposition since 1999. The electricians won the three last final.
Last year, the electricians lost the national championship (against ADESIF), but they won the cup of the president. This year, they won the championship and were the favourites of the cup. In eliminatory, the score was 39-40 (for AS-Sonabel).
For the final, only one change in the starting five of coach Pacere. Kadiatou DAMA took the place of Yolande OUEDRAOGO. For the first time this year, the electricians started with a zone defence.
No change for ADESIF.
Haidara and her team mates wanted to save their season. They started fast. They gave an 8-2 to the electricians. But slowly, Mariam and honorine reduced the score and at the end of the quarter, they were three points last.
The second quarter showed the big team of the electricians; the zone defence became harder. Marie Jo substituted Kadi. The game speeded up. Honorine took all the rebounds. Mariam began her ShowTime. They began to drive the game.
At the third quarter, the zone defence of the electricians became an individual defence. Every body thought that the match was finish. With 10 points advance, it was hard for the visitors to come back, the electricians played so well. It was wrong.
At the beginning of the fourth quarter, ADESIF gave a 9-0 to the women of coach PACERE. A bad substitution permitted to the visitors to steals many balls in the top of their zone and to have fast breaks. The game became very interested. Nobody could say who will be the winner. At this time, Mariam TRAORE took the responsibility to give the cup to her team. She was everywhere. She responds to all the points of her adversaries. 20 seconds, the score is tied, 38-38 and ADESIF had just score. Mariam began a coast to coast. She chose to take a 2 points shoot. All the defence tried to stop her. She lost her shoot. But Honorine had the good rebound. She scored.
6 seconds. Foul. Mariam HAIDARA for ADESIF at the free throw line. Time out for her coach. After that, she lost her shoots. Mariam TRAORE took the rebound and moved full court. End of the game.
AS-Sonabel for the fourth time gets the Cup of the President COMPAORE.
