Troopers started the 2015 men's basketball league season by thrashing Cadets 100-44 in a one-sided match played at the University of Botswana on Friday (May 1) night. Troopers were too strong in attack for Cadets and romped to a deserved 23-8 first quarter lead with point guard, Thebe Morwaagole leading the onslaught with eight points, while power forward Emmanuel Ramoshebi (F) contributed five points. Ramoshebi then plundered a total of 14 points, including two fantastic three-pointers, in the second quarter as the 2014 league champions established a healthy 48-18 half-time lead. The menacing attacking combination between Duma Setlhare, Boemo Johane and Morwaagole saw Troopers finish the match off as a contest in the third quarter. The trio shared the point scoring duties amongst themselves as coach William Nyangu's men extended their lead to 74-30. Oteng Phirinyane and Thabiso Tau tried to inspire Cadets into a fight-back, but Troopers scored 26 more points in the last quarter to get their title defence off to a perfect start. Ramoshebi and Morwaagole finished the match as Troopers' leading point-scorers with 25 and 22 points respectively.
